Our Mission Statement
"The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fredericksburg fosters a welcoming and intentionally diverse
community of those who seek philosophical, spiritual, intellectual or religious growth in a forum of
mutual respect.

Affirming the principles of the Unitarian Universalist Association, we value social justice, respect the
interdependence of all life and are united by a desire to make ethical decisions on issues of mutual
concern.

Doxology
(According to the late Bill Lakeman, one of our Fellowship's founders, this was the doxology recited on
Sunday mornings when the UUFF was a small group in a little building in College Heights. )

We who pursue the search for meaning called religion gather in dedication to:
    Individual freedom of belief, and
The ideals of truth, democracy, and brotherhood for all.
We seek a faith as intelligent as science, as appealing as art,
As inspiring as love, and as meaningful as each day's work.
We bow to the gifts of those before us, and
The visions and understanding at birth within us.

We offer an open-minded and supportive community in which you are encouraged to ask questions,
share ideas, and join us in our search for truth and spiritual understanding.

Throughout the year, we sponsor special events, activities and programs designed to appeal to a broad
range of interests.  Adult religious education classes, discussion groups, musical presentations,
holiday parties, and potluck suppers and picnics are some of the ways in which we come together as a
community to learn, share and grow.

We have just completed the purchase of a site (land) next to the National Park at Chatham and had our
"Ground Breaking" Ceremony on our new Fellowship Building on June 6, 2009.  We welcome you to join
us in this next huge step in our growth and history!

Our Fellowship is committed to the democratic process, and responsibility for church decisions rests
with the voting members.  An elected Executive Board and a number of standing committees comprise
the governing body of the congregation.

We are an honor society of the
Unitarian Universalist Association and are members of the Thomas
Jefferson District of the UUA, as well as the Interfaith Council, the Food Bank, and the Church Shelter
Board in Fredericksburg.

On May 16th, 2004, The congregation unanimously passed the resolution to become a Welcoming
Congregation, which affirms and welcomes gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) persons.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fredericksburg officially recognized by the UUA as a
Welcoming Congregation on June 8th, 2004.
